Some weeks back, a writing acquaintance wrote on this topic and he got chewed. He posted his article(s) on a magazine website and the article(s) didn’t last twenty-four (24) hours on the website before it was pulled down. That’s how annoying people felt it was. By the time I heard of the article, it had been pulled off the site and in its place was a shoddy and halfhearted apology written to all who may have read the article. I got a gist of how bad the article(s) were (he kinda mentioned there was more than one writ) when I read the comments on the apology article, a lady suggested psychology help and I knew, knowing said acquaintance that the kinda things he must have written ehn…
So why venture there, write about what seems to bite others when they touch it? Well, it’s simple. Our dispositions; for one whilst I do not condone rape for any reason at all, I also think that the ladies need to be educated on how to dress and where to walk at certain hours of the day. I mean babes wearing tubes only daring to go through an alley that me as a guy will have to recite psalm 23 to before going through that route…
Now some people may think I maybe a bit biased to the male gender, lie. I had to read a lot of articles and papers written on the subject and with burning seething rage, I went through the literature. At times I felt like crying, felt like been the keyword here if anyone harasses me for been sissy… like I said, I felt like, moving on.
As you may have deduced, this discourse is a writ on the subject of rape. There is a lot of conflicting definition for the act as definitions differ in countries and all, the consensus therefore is: the unlawful compelling of a person through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse; to force to have sexual intercourse; It is defined in many jurisdictions as sexual intercourse, or other forms of sexual penetration, of one person by another person without the consent of the victim; The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime defines it as “sexual intercourse without valid consent,” and the World Health Organization defined it in 2002 as “physically forced or otherwise coerced penetration – even if slight – of the vulva or anus, using a penis, other body parts or an object.
The FBI in 2012 redefined rape from “The carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will.” to “The penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.” So there, they all agree that rape has to do with penetration. Now you may be wondering, what entered this boy that he’s talking about rape today? Simple, today’s valentine, and the crime with the lowest rate of reports to the authorities is rape. All over the world, the female raped, whether by one person or a group is too traumatized and ashamed to actually talk about it and bring the culprits to book. Sweden is the worst offender in this group with about 46 incidents of rape reported per every 100,000 residents; the country leads Europe and the world in the chart of shame. South Africa comes second with this shocking statistic recorded in 2010-2011, 56,272 rapes were recorded in South Africa, an average of 154 a day and more than double the rate in India who are third on the list. The literature of shame goes on and on.
And all these make me wonder, what is the fuzz really about? I mean dudes really, is it worth it? Hitting an unwilling woman to compliance then having your way with a log-like figure, I presume that the prostitutes would be more sport, so why not just pay if you really have to poke a hole? If that doesn’t work, all these social media has made ‘setting P’ seem like buying biscuit at the mallams – just saying.
The main intent of this writ is to implore the dudes, just in case you invested heavily and the girl starts forming film trick when she’s supposed to ‘deliver the goods’ understand this, no farmer sows and reaps the same day. Be a little patient. If she will, she will; if not, bad investment, move on, someone else will give it up for free. So please no matter how you are overridden by thoughts of just doing it, think about it, after the act, would you be able to stand tall in society and say, ‘I’m a rapist!’? If not, let it go, it aint worth it.
I do not need to point out the pros and cons of rape, but I will leave you with this story if you haven’t read it or heard of it. Read it and ponder a while, is it the way to go? It’s the story of how a girl was raped in a bus and thrown out of the moving bus… for why?
